Posterior lumbar plexus block☆☆☆
Abstract
Posterior lumbar plexus block is an attractive method of providing unilateral lower extremity anesthesia for a variety of surgical procedures. Posterior lumbar plexus block, by anesthetizing the lumbar plexus at the level of the roots, is a more “complete” lumbar plexus anesthetic compared with more peripheral approaches. Continuous posterior lumbar plexus techniques have recently been employed allowing procedures usually associated with significant postoperative pain to be performed on an ambulatory basis.
